The U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Subcommittee on Social Security is holding a second hearing on the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO). The April 16 hearing will focus on repealing both provisions, how that would impact the Social Security Trust Fund, and the best way to address the inequity of the GPO and WEP.

National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO) is requesting members and those impacted by the WEP and GPO to resubmit their previous statements to drive home the point that the GPO and WEP are detrimental to the retirement security of millions of public sector retirees. Those who did not previously submit a letter or a written statement to the Committee are asked to please consider doing so now.

The Committee is accepting comments through close of business Tuesday, April 30 for individuals impacted and family members of those impacted. Please support NAPO's efforts by submitting comments, which must be in a Word document attached to your email, to: This email address is being protected from spambots. Include a list of all persons and/or organizations who are submitting the comments in the Word document. Your email must include your name, organization (if applicable), address, and telephone number.
