Executive Board President

Beverly Hills Public Safety Lieutenant Rob Ginther has been involved in unions throughout his career. He was first elected to the Executive Board in December 2022 as Treasurer. He was appointed Executive Board President in September 2023, followed by his election as President in December 2023. Ginther also serves as Local President of Beverly Hills Lieutenants and Sergeants Association. A MAP member since 2017, he was elected Local Vice President the same year, serving in that role until 2020 when he became Local President. Ginther was a Berkley Public Safety Officer for 12 years, serving as the Local Patrol Union Treasurer for five years and President for four years. He also worked as a Berkley Public Safety Reserve Officer Coordinator, Range Officer, EMS Coordinator, and the Public Safety Officers representative on the Pension Board. After taking a deferred pension and retiring from Berkley, he was hired as a Beverly Hills Public Safety Officer in 2008. He rose through the ranks as a Beverly Hills Public Safety Detective and Sergeant before being promoted to Lieutenant in 2021. In addition to supervising both midnight platoons on 12-hour shifts, he is the Fire Marshal/EMS Coordinator and a Range Officer. A graduate of OCC’s Police Academy, Fire Academy and EMS Academy, Ginther earned his associate’s degree in Fire Fighting Technology. He has a bachelor’s degree in Public Safety Studies from Siena Heights University and graduated from Michigan State University School of Police Staff and Command and Eastern Michigan University School of Fire Staff and Command. He taught a variety of police, fire and EMS topics at OCC and retired from the college in 2022 as Combined Regional Emergency Services Training Center (CREST) Program Manager. Ginther established several endowed scholarships on behalf of the Ginther family for OCC students working toward achieving their educational goals in public service.
