Run for the Badge 5K in Washington DC this October is taking the lead for 2020 National Police Weekend, a new event organized to recognize law enforcement officers.

The coronavirus pandemic led to the cancellation of in-person National Police Week events in Washington DC in May. Now participants and supporters can honor law enforcement through Run for the Badge 5K and a series of weekend events. The run begins at 9 a.m. Oct. 10 through downtown Washington DC, benefitting the National Law Enforcement Museum whether you run, walk or participate virtually. Register today as an individual or create a 5K team.

National Police Weekend 2020 will include Family Day, memorial services and reading of the 2020 names dedicated on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial wall, Honor Guard, Officer of the Month awards reception, and a special symposium on mental health in law enforcement.

While fundraising for Run for the Badge 5K is not a requirement, the goal of the event is to raise $100,000 to honor the fallen, tell the story of American law enforcement, and make it safer for those who serve.
