Michigan Association of Police members are invited to attend the 2nd Annual Michigan Active Assailant Conference (MAAC) Sept. 13-14, 2017 in Troy, Michigan.

The conference will provide firsthand collaborative law enforcement and fire service debriefs of some of the largest active assailant incidents ever including: the recent tragedies in Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Paris, Washington DC, and others. The event is being hosted by Farmington Hills Fire Department, Farmington Hills Police Department, Troy Police Department, Oakland County Tactical Training Consortium (OakTac), and Michigan Rural EMS Network (MiREMS).

Retired Texas Ranger Ramiro Martinez, one of the Austin Police Officers who heroically ascended the University of Texas clock tower in 1966 and confronted the offender during that infamous incident, will be discussing the events of that tragic day.

This conference has been submitted to the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards for use of approved funds, State 911 Committee for use of dispatcher training funds, and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services for 16 hours of approved EMS continuing education.
